What do I get from the HypnoBirthing® classes?

All Classes include access to phone or email support from me whenever both before and after the course.

Group Classes are held on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings/afternoons.

Private Classes, are available at a mutually convenient time and venue, and you can also schedule an optional follow up or refresher for one hour as you near your birthing day.

Intensive classes are available for people who have come to HypnoBirthing® late in their pregnancy and are nearing their birthing date and would be unable to fit in 5 sessions over 5 weeks.

Intensive study sounds attractive because they can get it over with more quickly however, there is a serious side to it. By taking the course intensively, there is a far greater chance that you will 'zone out' and miss much of the important information because there is so much presented in such a short time. Remember, you ARE pregnant, and for many pregnant women it is quite challenging to stay focused for a long period of time! In addition you don't get the benefit of practicing each week, as the other classes do, and won't have as many chances to ask questions, check your techniques, and gain confidence that the benefit of time allows.

Bear in mind that while we can "de-hypnotise" you from any current birth-related negative thinking, like most complementary modalities such as massage and herbal medicine, hypnosis can take time, repeated sessions, effort and commitment to make a strong and obvious difference in a person's life. This is what makes the 5 week course so powerful and effective!

Sometimes partners choose not to be at the birth, and not all birthing women have partners. This in no way excludes you from experiencing the benefits of HypnoBirthing®.

If this is the case, I do suggest that you explore the possibility of having a birth support person. This can be in the form of friend, family member, or a doula (a Professional Birth Support Person)

Research has shown that the presence of a doula or support person, can reduce the length of labour significantly, and minimise the need for intervention and medication. I am happy for you to invite any birth support person or doula along to the HypnoBirthing® classes as well as your birth companion so they too understand what it is you are doing and how they can be of support.

However, you are the one who will be giving birth and HypnoBirthing is structured to empower you and provide you with all the techniques to give birth safely and comfortable wherever you are and even if you have no birthing companion.
